We also did a scavenger hunt with Adele. She had to hunt for the eggs which held a clue to finding the next egg. Such as "Look under the kitchen sink, you'll find an egg that's pink." I loved doing "Look under the dining room chair for an egg the color of Dawna's hair." To which she replied, "white?" I guess platinum blondes do look more white than yellow. But I was going for yellow. At the end, she found this clue: "To mommy's pillow, and then, lift! Underneath, you'll find a gift!" Which was anti-climatic since someone forgot to hide the gift. Kids are forgiving though, so she didn't mind looking twice to find this present:
A homemade robe. Kids clothes are also good for learning how to sew, for many reasons: She doesn't mind or even notice the many imperfections; smaller size means less fabric means less expense; and the excitement over receiving it is the best part.We also found this outside on the front porch:
Which Adele theorized "I think someone dressed up as the Easter bunny, got powder on his feet and left these." Well, close. Kind of. We all accused each other until I found out it was our next door neighbor. The girls also enjoyed pulverizing the prints (made of flour). We dyed hard boiled eggs in the afternoon. We couldn't find food coloring, so we found food for coloring. You know, grape juice, curry powder, etc.
Is that look on Adele's face her reaction from trying the water? They kept saying it tasted yucky. Yeah, vinegar is yucky, when mixed with water and curry powder. At least it gave us a teaching opportunity about Christ being given vinegar on the cross, and how it must have tasted. The egg hunt in the yard. Adele had to open up her eggs and eat the bunny marshmellows before going on to find another one. After one or two, she began to "drink" them like shots.
Another highlight of Easter was a book I made for Adele. It was so simple - just cardstock tied together, with glued in pictures of Jesus during the last week of his life. I cut the pictures out of the Friend magazine. She loved it and had me read it to her over and over, and called it "the special Easter book my mommy made me." So while we do alot of fun activities with eggs and treats, I hope my kids will always really understand what Easter is really about.

Really cute Easter fun! Adele looks like she had a wonderful time! Nice robe! I bet it was fun to make! I need to get a sewing machine and start making things from home.
Your Easter sounded awesome! I think next year we will copy your idea of an Easter egg scavenger hunt. My girlies love finding things with clues. I've been meaning to make my girls a book with pictures on Christ. Thanks for the reminder. The picture of your daughter in the Easter dress is beautiful. Happy belated Easter.
Great job on the robe, Am. It's super cute, and Adele looks so thrilled.
I love the scavenger idea too.
That was so cute of your neighbors to put bunny prints on the front porch. I love Adele's theory.
Wow, what a full Easter. Good job Am. It looks like there were really a lot of great activities. Next year we'll be more like you. yeah... next year. :)
