Then we stopped at the Tillamook Air Museum. We thought admission was too pricey, so instead we bought tickets to tour the mini guppy, which is the huge cargo plane you see in the picture below. After paying the tickets, we walked to the entrance of the guppy and saw this sign:
But after paying $3 per adult, we decided it was worth severe injury or death to get our money's worth. We entered the cargo plane. When a cargo plane is empty, there really isn't a whole lot to see inside.
But we could see inside the museum from where we were, so we got to see the planes from that era - this naval air station was only open from 1942-1948.Next, we drove south 7 miles to see Oregon Coast's tallest waterfall, Munson Falls.
Then we met up with Joe and Cami Family at Cape Lookout.
It was pretty there, but a dense fog bank settled right there in the cape. So it felt cold and dark on the beach. And it was super crowded and there were tons of mosquitos (yes, mosquitos on the beach!). So we made our way towards some dunes near Sand Lake, and found the sunshine and the beach, no people, no mosquitos, clear water. It was beautiful! A sandy cliff we could climb. The boys (Levi, Calder, Ansel) kept jumping off it and tumbling down. It reminded me of the dread pirate Roberts/Wesley in The Princess Bride as he shouted "As you wish!!" We ended our day with dinner in at a Mexican restaurant that was actually a pink Victorian style home converted to a restaurant.
Samuel just started sitting up on his 6 month birthday.
He's also crawling (using his tummy, not a full on hands and knees crawl) alot, although I can't quite capture it on video. He usually stops crawling towards his destination so he can stop and look at the camera. This is from over a week ago, so he's already much quicker now.I am grateful to now have a child who will happily be put to bed, and cuddle his blanket. We STILL struggle to get Adele to go to sleep. In fact, Samuel doesn't really need to be held that often either - usually when he's fussy, he just wants to go to bed. Otherwise, he is happy to crawl around or sit around. It's fun to see how different your kids can be. Adele loves and always has loved baths and water. Samuel cries when he touches water. They both loved diaper changes as babies, and hated the car. Although Samuel only hated it until 5 months old, now he's fine. Adele screamed bloody murder well beyond that age. Adele was easier to nurse, she could nurse anywhere. Samuel is more distractable and kind of high strung and gets tense and figity. Samuel talks to everyone all the time. He's mr. social, while Adele cried at everyone started at 2 months, unless they were VERY familiar. (Not even a little familiar, she would cry at some relatives and piano students we saw every week). Samuel will flash a smile at anyone who looks at him. Adele seemed to have formed sounds earlier on, like "dadadada or mamama or nanana" by 4 months. Samuel hasn't started that, but he "ooo's" ALL the time, he just talks and talks. He has a lot to say, but with less "words." They are both so INCREDIBLY CUTE.

What a fun weekend!! I love how there is so much to do there that is relatively inexpensive. I love that you decided risking injury or death was worth it after already paying the admission fee :) I would have felt the same way.
That video of Samuel is cute! And it's fun to read about the differences between him and Adele. Makes me curious to see how our baby #2 will be...
We want to make it out to the Tillamook factory sometime. I'm a big fan of their ice cream and cheese.
The most important thing from this post is that you got your 6 bucks worth. That is, if seeing an empty cargo plane counts. That was funny.
Looks like a fun time! Enjoy the weekends - I miss them nowadays! :O
Glad to know that $3 is the price of severe injury or death - that was really funny! It's also good to know that we have an extremely lazy 9 month old. He might be saying words, but he still refuses to crawl!!
It sounds like you guys had fun. Funny they didn't warn you of death before paying for the ticket. We would have risked it too.
Samual is sooo cute, I loved the video. keep'em comming.
This post reminds me of what Mom always said about the three of us kids regarding how we liked to sleep and how we liked to be held. Remember? J. did NOT like being held, I didn't care either way, and you wanted to be held, etc ...
I can't believe how much Sam has grown since I saw him last.
I love all the updates, and the pictures. I can't believe how big both of your kids are. It's fun to see you in places that I would go all my life, I love the northwest I hope you love it too.
I love all of those places!!! I LOVE OREGON!!!
Wow! Samuel is so big! I love Adele's Cameo appearance at the end of the film :)
I sent you and Adele a package today... an experiment, really, so let me know what you think! It should get there by Friday
